Tim Lawrence: Love Saves The Day - A History Of American Dance Music Culture, 1970-1979 Book

This is a must-read. Originally released in 2003, Love Saves The Day is a meticulously researched book on '70s American dance music, and Tim Lawrence does due dilligence and way, way, way more to provide a definitive, in-depth look at how names like David Mancuso, Nicky Siano, Tom Moulton, Francis Grasso, and Frankie Knuckles crafted a scene so influential, tireless, and utterly fascinating. Based on 300-plus interviews w/ aforementioned luminaries as well as other DJs, labels, musicians, vocalists, producers, remixers, party promoters, journalists, and dance crowds, Love Save The Day also gifts us with 20 special discographies from the time period’s most powerful selectors, and it also contains 70-plus rare photos that still breathe with life and energy of the venues, parties, and people they capture. Again, this is a must-read, and if’ve you’ve already picked up Life and Death on the New York Dance Floor 1980-1983, it might behoove you to put it down and read this one first (that’s what I’m doing). Recommended!
